This Denomination of Origin Cotes du Rhone is mostly along the Rhone in the south. The soils are stony, clay and calcareous clay.
The extension of the vineyards covering 40,000 hectares. The strains that occur in this region are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Cinsault. Light red wines are fruity, dry white and dry rosé. The crops are recommended for 2003 and 2000.
